We all know that milk is good for us; it contains protein, fats and carbohydrates, as well as
vitamins and minerals, and gives us much of the calcium wwe need.
In milk, the carbohydrate comes in the form of a special type of sugar - lactose, or milk sugar;
it is this that gives milk its delicate sweetness. Many people, however, cannot digest lactose
properly and this condition is known as "lactose intolerance".
